Kroi Kinetic Incognito Single marks cross border funk collaboration

Kroi releases a new track that connects Tokyo and London through sound. The Japanese five piece band teams up with UK funk group Incognito for the single “Kinetic feat. INCOGNITO,” released on March 23, 2026.

The track is produced by Jean-Paul ‘Bluey’ Maunick, a key figure in acid jazz since the 1990s. His influence shapes the groove. You hear tight horns, layered rhythms, and a clear funk direction.

The collaboration started after Kroi performed at The Great Escape in Brighton in 2025. The band wanted a new direction. They chose to work with artists they respect. Incognito was the first choice.

Recording took place at Colibri Sound Recorders. The process stayed loose. The team focused on live energy. Sessions moved fast. The horn section from Incognito built around the groove created on the spot. This approach gave the track a raw feel.

Kroi blends R and B, funk, soul, rock, and hip hop. The band consists of Leo Uchida on vocals, Yuki Hasebe on guitar, Masanori Seki on bass, Hidetomo Masuda on drums, and Daiki Chiba on keyboards. Since forming in 2018, the group has grown its reach across Asia and beyond.

The single arrives with a music video directed by Takuto Shimpo. The visuals use bold colors and optical illusions inspired by 1990s design. The moving backgrounds match the rhythm of the track. The concept stays simple and focused on motion.

Kroi continues to build momentum after its 2025 Asia tour and first arena run in early 2026. The band also expands its reach through anime soundtracks. Tracks like “Method” and “Water Carrier” introduced the group to wider audiences.

The next step is a full Japan tour. “Kroi Live Tour 2026 JUNGLE” starts in August. The band will perform 10 shows across six cities, including Yokohama, Osaka, and Tokyo. The tour mixes solo concerts and two man shows. Guest artists will be announced soon.
