KPop Demon Hunters has claimed the crown as Netflix’s most-watched film of all time. The animated movie has earned 236 million views since its June 20 debut, surpassing Red Notice, which held the record with 231 million views since 2021.
The film follows three k-pop idols who secretly defend the human world from demons. What seemed like a quirky concept turned into a global hit, thanks to its mix of fun storytelling, emotional themes, and an addictive soundtrack. Four tracks from the film even landed in the Billboard Hot 100’s top ten at the same time, setting a new record for movie soundtracks.
Netflix extended its success by giving the film a limited theatrical run with a singalong version. While no official figures were shared, industry reports estimate earnings of $18 to $20 million from just two days of screenings.
The rapid rise of KPop Demon Hunters shows the growing reach of k-pop culture in global entertainment and confirms the film as Netflix’s latest cultural milestone.
