Hayley Williams has entered a new era. After surprising fans with a collection of 17 singles earlier this month, she released a music video for “Glum”, directed by Paramore bandmate Zac Farro and AJ Gibboney. The songs mark her first major project under independence, following Paramore’s exit from Atlantic Records after more than 20 years.
Released under her own venture Post Atlantic with Secretly Distribution, the 17 tracks highlight Williams’ wide creative range. Produced with Daniel James, the collection features contributions from Brian Robert Jones, Joey Howard, and Jim-E Stack. Standouts include the alt-rock anthem “Mirtazapine”, the Americana-tinged “Whim”, and “Ice in My OJ”, which reworks an early Williams chorus from 2004.
The video for “Glum” follows a recent clip for “Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party”, which shows Williams exploring her Nashville roots with Representative Justin Jones. Both visuals underline her evolving artistry outside the Paramore framework.
Williams, a three-time Grammy winner ranked by Billboard among the top 50 greatest rock singers of all time, is cementing her place as a solo force. These singles follow her acclaimed solo albums “Petals For Armor” (2020) and “Flowers for Vases” (2021), expanding her sound into bold, experimental territory while keeping her emotional lyricism intact.
