Globe now covers 96.13% of the Philippine population with mobile network services, reaching over 106 million Filipinos based on 2020 data. Despite this, around 4.2 million still live in areas with no coverage. These communities are often in remote islands, mountainous regions, or locations with limited infrastructure.
“There is still much work to be done to bring quality connectivity to every Filipino. Globe remains fully committed to making it happen,” said Joel Agustin, Globe SVP for Network Planning and Engineering.
To address this gap, Globe continues to expand its network. In 2024, it spent ₱56.2 billion on capital expenditures. This funded the construction of over 1,200 new cell sites, the upgrade of 4,600 sites to LTE, and the rollout of 600 new 5G sites.
These investments helped achieve near-universal mobile coverage in key urban centers. Metro Manila now has close to full coverage, while major cities in Visayas and Mindanao reached 97%.
Globe’s focus is now on underserved areas. The company prioritizes places with limited or no connectivity, aiming to improve access to education, livelihood, and business opportunities through mobile service.
Agustin added, “We remain targeted and strategic in our network builds, focused on enabling and uplifting the lives of more Filipinos, and contributing to national development.”
To reach areas with no electricity, Globe uses off-grid and solar-powered towers. The company also partners with local governments to speed up permits and local coordination.
For three consecutive years, Globe has been recognized as the country’s most reliable mobile network. The company remains committed to strengthening not just its reach but also the quality of service.
The work continues, but every new site helps close the digital divide.
