Enderun Extension has received TESDA Program Registration Certificates for its English as a Second Language (ESL) Competency Training. This formal recognition sets a national standard for ESL programs in the Philippines.
Until now, TESDA focused on trades and technical skills. ESL education had no dedicated accreditation system, despite its growing role in education tourism and workforce development. This left ESL programs with no consistent benchmarks.
Enderun worked with a national working group and TESDA to fix this gap. Together, they developed ESL competency standards aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
Loida Flojo, Vice President of Enderun Extension, said the accreditation bridges language training with employability both in the Philippines and abroad.
TESDA now recognizes ESL at three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and C1. Mitzi Samson-Endriano, NLSC Chief at TESDA, said this move supports the country’s strength in voice outsourcing and education.
TESDA-accredited ESL programs now:
- Train students under qualified instructors
- Follow global, competency-based frameworks
- Offer government-recognized certificates
This marks a shift toward stronger accountability and international recognition. Ivannovich Agote of the DOT-NCR noted the move helps make Metro Manila a hub for English learning and education tourism.
Enderun plans to expand its TESDA-certified offerings and partner with more agencies. The long-term goal is to make the Philippines a leader in global ESL education.
Flojo encouraged more institutions to follow suit, stating that shared accreditation will raise national standards and credibility.
