The Department of Justice is deepening its engagement with local prosecution offices as part of efforts to improve coordination and review operations across the National Prosecution Service.
DOJ Undersecretary Ian Dato, who oversees the National Prosecution Service, recently visited the Office of the City Prosecutor in Pasig City at the Bulwagan ng Katarungan along Caruncho Avenue.
The visit formed part of a broader tour aimed at obtaining updates from prosecution offices and strengthening coordination in the handling of criminal cases at the regional, provincial, and city levels.
Reviewing Operations on the Ground
During the Pasig City visit, Dato met with officials of the local prosecution office, including head prosecutor Rey Camilo B. Dumlao III, senior deputy prosecutor Randy M. Esteban, and deputy prosecutors Robinson A. Landicho and Alvin Joseph P. Porte.
The engagement allowed DOJ leadership to better understand the operational realities faced by field offices, which serve as key frontline units in the investigation and prosecution of criminal cases within their respective jurisdictions.
“We remain committed to maintaining close coordination with our prosecution offices to ensure that operations remain responsive, efficient, and aligned with the standards of the National Prosecution Service,” Dato said.
He added that the initiative helps the department identify areas for continued improvement.
Part of a Wider DOJ Tour
The Pasig City engagement is part of a continuing series of visits by DOJ leadership to prosecution offices across the country.
The tour began in Camiguin and has included Laguna, Bacolod, Iloilo, Baguio, San Juan, Makati, Taguig, and Pasig. Mandaluyong is scheduled as the next stop.
Through these visits, the DOJ aims to maintain stronger communication with local offices while supporting more consistent and efficient prosecution work nationwide.
