Filipino pop artist DIONE launches ‘Kalmot,’ a song celebrating her cats and advocating Puspin adoption
Filipino pop artist DIONE is back with her new single, “Kalmot,” a catchy mix of fun and heart that celebrates her love for cats and her advocacy for rescued Puspins.
After a decade of shaping her sound, Dione Marianne Claire Ibarra, known as DIONE, has built her name on authenticity and emotion. Born in Quezon City and raised in Antipolo and Bohol, she brings her Filipino, English, and Bisaya roots into songs that reflect strength and self-acceptance.
“After ten years, I’ve learned to stop fearing rejection,” she said. “Every song I release mirrors who I am at that time.”
Her previous single “Kodigo” showcased her dance-pop side. With “Kalmot,” she explores a lighter but more meaningful tone, drawing inspiration from her seven cats, especially her internet-famous feline, Tomomi.
“People expected me to write about cats before,” she laughs. “‘Kalmot’ came from my deep love for them — I give them everything even when they scratch or bite.”
The song features real meows and purrs from her cats and promotes Puspin adoption. “I want Filipinos to call them Puspins, not Pusakal,” she said. “They deserve love and respect like any other breed.”
DIONE will launch “Kalmot” on October 25, with a listening and fundraiser event on October 24 at SideQuest Café + Hobby Lounge, Estancia Mall. Proceeds will support The Cat House, a local rescue shelter.
Produced by Yñigo Ferraz of Ysanygo, the track blends playful gang vocals, smooth rap verses, and bright production that marks DIONE’s evolving pop identity.
