Genie, Make a Wish unleashes dark fantasy on Netflix
Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for its upcoming fantasy drama, Genie, Make a Wish, set to premiere on October 3. The series puts a sinister twist on the classic genie tale by pairing a mischievous spirit with a human master who is far from ordinary.
Kim Woo-bin takes on the role of Genie, a devilish spirit trapped in a lamp for a thousand years. Unlike the kind-hearted genies in folklore, this one thrives on temptation and corruption. He offers humans three wishes, but each comes with a dangerous price. His eccentric and naive nature, sharpened by centuries away from the human world, adds both humor and unpredictability.
Suzy stars as Ka-young, the lamp’s owner. Her character breaks the mold of typical heroines. Ka-young is portrayed as a beautiful, wealthy, and well-educated woman, yet she hides a chilling side—an emotionless psychopath raised under the strict guidance of her grandmother and admired by her entire village. Her cold demeanor makes her a unique match for the cunning Genie.
The supporting cast includes Ahn Eun-jin as the enigmatic Mi-joo, Noh Steve Sang-hyun as Soo-hyun, Genie’s brother and rival, Ko Kyu-phil as Sayyid, Genie’s assistant who hides his true form as a black jaguar, and Lee Zoo-young as Min-ji, Ka-young’s only friend.
