Ayala Malls Cinemas is bringing Asian stories to the spotlight with “A-Reel Asia: Stories from the Heart of the East,” a premium showcase of Asian films launching this September.

The series opens with Indonesia’s “Traditional Kamasutra Teacher,” directed by Hanung Bramantyo. Starring Raihaanun, the film dives into Javanese traditions, gender roles, and human emotions. It tells the journey of Ratri, a woman shaped by betrayal who seeks retribution through her lover’s son.
The film is part of the “Indo Jewels” category, which highlights Indonesia’s cinematic treasures. It was nominated at the 54th International Film Festival Rotterdam and selected for the 24th New York Asian Film Festival, praised for its rich cinematography and authentic costumes.
Through A-Reel Asia, audiences can look forward to curated films across categories: Indo Jewels, Bollywood Gems, Seoul Screen, Tokyo Tales, and Dragon Reels. Titles will come from Indonesia, India, South Korea, Japan, and China.
Screenings are available at Ayala Malls Cinemas Manila Bay, Circuit, Glorietta, Feliz, Solenad, Central Bloc, Centrio, Trinoma, and Fairview Terraces. Tickets are priced at P275 in Metro Manila and Solenad, and P250 in Central Bloc and Centrio.
