British R&B and soul-pop singer-songwriter Sam Wills has unveiled his new single ‘Voicenotes’, released September 5, ahead of his sophomore album ‘Speak’, due out October 3. The Hastings-based artist is experiencing strong streaming momentum across Southeast Asia, with Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines emerging as his top markets. This success is fueling plans for a 2026 regional tour.
‘Voicenotes’ reflects on separation and memories of love, capturing late-night emotions through lush harmonies and delicate production. Wills, together with collaborator Phairo, delivers a track influenced by timeless jazz while keeping a modern edge. The single sits as the penultimate chapter in his upcoming album ‘Speak’, which chronicles themes of desperation, love, heartbreak, and renewal.
Sam Wills built anticipation with earlier releases such as “Amelia”, “Coulda Been Us”, and “We Both Know”. His debut album ‘Breathe’ gained more than 450 million streams worldwide, anchored by the breakout track “Traingazing feat. Honey Mooncie”, a viral sensation on TikTok and Instagram.
Wills’ artistry has drawn praise from Elton John, Victoria Jane of BBC Radio 1, DJ Target of BBC 1Xtra, and Jamie Cullum of BBC Radio 2, while his live shows have filled venues including London’s Jazz Café and Lafayette. He has also performed at festivals like Cross The Tracks and The Great Escape.
As a collaborator, he has worked with Jorja Smith, SG Lewis, Disclosure, and Lucky Daye. With his Southeast Asian fan base growing, Wills is preparing for his first tour in the region in 2026, bringing his soulful style to audiences who have embraced his music online.
‘Voicenotes’ is now streaming, with ‘Speak’ arriving on October 3.
