How AXA Docu Therapy Mental Health pushes Filipinos to open up
AXA places mental health at the center of its new initiative through Group Therapy, a 90 minute documentary that turns emotional storytelling into a simple therapeutic tool. The film frames one message. Sharing helps you heal.

The documentary follows American actor Neil Patrick Harris as he sits with six global stand up comedians. Mike Birbiglia, Nicole Byer, Gary Gulman, London Hughes, Tig Notaro, and Atsuko Okatsuka share their struggles in honest conversations. They talk about anxiety, stress, and personal battles that shaped their lives. You see how their stories offer comfort to viewers who face the same issues. You feel how sharing builds connection.
The release comes at a time when mental health needs more attention in the Philippines. AXA’s 2025 Mind Health Report shows that anxiety, depression, and stress affect more Filipinos today. Many young Filipinos aged 18 to 24 experience at least mild forms of these conditions. The data shows 86 percent of youth deal with anxiety, stress, or depression. Older adults show more hesitation when it comes to speaking about mental struggles. The youth tend to open up more and use digital tools for support.
AXA Philippines CEO Ayman Kandil explains why Group Therapy matters. He notes that professional therapy and medication remain essential. He adds that community and shared conversations help Filipinos feel supported. When people talk about their experiences, stigma loses its power. You learn to recognize your own needs. You grow comfortable seeking help.
Kandil says that the documentary aims to inspire more people to start conversations about mental wellness. When you open up, you take a step toward healing. You help build a safer space for others who feel lost in silence.
Group Therapy is a co production between AXA and Hartbeat Productions by comedian Kevin Hart. You can watch the documentary on AXA Philippines’ YouTube page. It runs as docu therapy for anyone who needs a gentle push to share their story.
