Apple has officially unveiled the Apple Watch Series 11 during its “Awe Dropping” event, launching alongside the iPhone 17 lineup. The new smartwatch brings important health tools, stronger durability, and faster connectivity.
One of the biggest updates is hypertension detection. Apple’s VP of Health, Dr. Sumbul Ahmad Desai, explained that the feature uses the watch’s optical heart sensor with a new algorithm based on data from over 100,000 participants. It works in the background to spot patterns that may indicate high blood pressure. While not a medical diagnosis, it can notify users to seek professional help. Apple expects to alert more than a million people in the first year, pending FDA clearance.
The Series 11 also introduces a sleep score system, analyzing sleep quality by duration, consistency, and restlessness. This feature helps users understand what affects their rest and provides insights for improvement.
For those who prefer the cellular model, Apple has finally added 5G support. This gives faster and more reliable connections when away from an iPhone. The upgraded modem and antenna system also improves coverage and power efficiency.
Durability has been improved with Ion-X glass that now has a ceramic coating, making the screen twice as scratch resistant compared to the Series 10. The case is made with 100 percent recycled aluminum, and titanium models also use fully recycled materials.
Battery life now lasts up to 24 hours thanks to a redesigned battery. The watch remains available in two sizes, 42mm and 46mm, and is touted as Apple’s thinnest and most comfortable yet.
The Series 11 ships with watchOS 26, which features the new Flow watch face with a translucent design and the Exactograph face inspired by regulator clocks.
Pricing starts at Php26,490 for the 42mm aluminum GPS model and Php28,490 for the 46mm version. Titanium models start at Php46,990. Cellular connectivity adds Php100 to aluminum models, while titanium versions include it by default. Pre-orders are live, with shipping set for September 19.
Apple Watch Series 11 is not a radical redesign but focuses on meaningful updates: 5G connectivity, improved durability, better sleep tracking, and the all-new hypertension alerts. It balances style with substance for both everyday users and health-focused individuals.
