Alibaba Cloud has been recognized as a leader in Omdia’s latest “Market Radar: GenAI Cloud Titans in Asia & Oceania 2025” report, affirming its growing dominance in the field of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). The company secured the highest “Advanced” ratings in seven out of nine key categories—more than any other vendor listed among the four global leaders.
The GenAI Leader recognition from Omdia highlights Alibaba Cloud’s full-stack capabilities, including foundation models, GenAI development platforms, and a robust AI infrastructure. Its Model Studio and Platform for AI (PAI) were particularly praised for offering developers and enterprises a seamless environment to build and deploy GenAI applications, backed by cutting-edge infrastructure such as the PAI-Lingjun Intelligent Computing Service.
“GenAI has captured the imagination of businesses in Asia and around the world,” said Jingren Zhou, CTO of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence. “We are grateful to be recognized for our leadership in helping companies implement its capabilities.”
Alibaba Cloud’s Qwen model family plays a central role in its GenAI strategy. With more than 200 open-source models released since August 2023, Qwen has surpassed 400 million downloads and has been used by over 290,000 customers across industries such as robotics, healthcare, finance, and education. Notably, over 140,000 third-party models have also been developed based on Qwen.
As the GenAI software market in Asia & Oceania is projected to grow from $5.5 billion in 2025 to $19.8 billion in 2029, Alibaba Cloud’s early and open-source-focused investments place it at the forefront of digital transformation across the region. With 27% of enterprises already deploying GenAI and another 33% piloting applications, Alibaba Cloud’s role as a GenAI leader is only expected to grow stronger.
