AI reporters Ivan and Aira redefine news delivery on Radyo Pilipinas

The Presidential Broadcast Service-Bureau of Broadcast Services (PBS-BBS) has launched two artificial intelligence reporters named Ivan and Aira. Their debut took place during the “AI Talks” program on Radyo Pilipinas, part of the network’s 78th founding anniversary celebration.

PBS-BBS director general Fernando Amparo Sanga said the move supports the Marcos administration’s campaign to reach a wider audience and address the spread of fake news. He stressed that the news content still comes from human writers, while AI delivers it with speed and consistency.

According to Sanga, AI reporters help eliminate political bias since they only deliver prepared news and not opinions. “It is still us who write the news. They execute it. The AI enhances the content and helps attract more listeners,” he explained.

The launch also follows a memorandum of understanding signed last August 7 between Sanga and Pocholo Gonzales, known as the “Godfather of Filipino AI Voices.” Gonzales produces and hosts “AI Talks with The VoiceMaster,” which airs every Saturday morning on Radyo Pilipinas.

Gonzales said AI should be seen as a tool to strengthen news dissemination, not as a threat. He described the project as a “revolution” in delivering information. “Balitang AI, the world’s first AI-animated news reporter, shows that Filipinos can lead in this field,” he said.

He added that the initiative represents the “New Filipino”—a generation open to change, equipped with knowledge, and responsible in shaping a digital future grounded in truth and hope.
