Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) has officially launched Tap-to-Phone, a new payment solution designed to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The launch took place on August 15, 2025, at One Ayala Concourse in Makati City.

Tap-to-Phone allows any NFC-enabled Android smartphone to function as a secure point-of-sale terminal. Merchants can accept card payments, generate QR codes, and issue electronic receipts without the need for card readers or bulky machines.

RCBC President and CEO Reggie B. Cariaso said the move is more than a payment tool. He described it as an equalizer that helps small businesses grow stronger, earn faster, and serve better.

Arniel Vincent B. Ong, RCBC Credit Cards President and CEO, emphasized that Tap-to-Phone breaks traditional barriers by eliminating the need for costly hardware and complicated setups.

The launch highlighted 25 Mercato Centrale merchants who accepted Mastercard and Visa payments through Tap-to-Phone, showcasing its ease and security.

RCBC said the initiative supports its commitment to financial inclusion by giving MSMEs affordable access to the digital payments ecosystem.
