Sekiro: No Defeat Anime Series Arrives on Crunchyroll in January 2027

The eight-episode adaptation will expand on the version shown in Japanese cinemas.

Sekiro: No Defeat will stream weekly on Crunchyroll beginning January 2027. The hand-drawn anime adaptation of FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will run for eight episodes and include new material beyond its theatrical version in Japan. Crunchyroll has not announced an exact premiere date yet.

The story follows Wolf and Kuro through a reimagined Sengoku-era Japan, with loyalty and sacrifice at its center. For players familiar with the game, the series format promises more time with their journey than the theatrical cut.

Kenichi Kutsuna directs the adaptation at Qzil.la. Takuya Satou wrote the screenplay, Takahiro Kishida designed the characters, and Shuta Hasunuma composed the music. Daisuke Namikawa voices Wolf, Miyuki Satou voices Kuro, and Kenjiro Tsuda voices Genichiro Ashina.

The theatrical version began screening in Japan on September 4, 2026. Crunchyroll says the series will stream worldwide except in Japan, China, Korea, Russia and Belarus, which includes availability in the Philippines.

The move to eight episodes gives Sekiro: No Defeat room to tell more of Wolf and Kuro’s story. Fans can watch for Crunchyroll’s announcement of the specific January premiere date and weekly schedule.
