BPI, Gogolook Partner to Strengthen Scam Protection as Digital Fraud Risks Rise

L-R: Gogolook’s PH Country Head and General Manager Mel Megrino and Global Chief Operating Officer Manwoo Joo with BPI’s ULC Product and Sales Head Alma Aldip and Sales and Distribution Channel Management Head Catherine Feranil.

In a bid to give customers stronger protection against scams and fraud, the Bank of the Philippine Islands has partnered with Gogolook to enhance scam detection and verify legitimate bank communications.

The collaboration enhances customer safety by combining BPI’s financial expertise with Gogolook’s anti-scam technology, helping customers avoid fraudulent calls and messages.

As part of the partnership, qualified BPI clients will receive complimentary access to Whoscall Premium Basic, Gogolook’s leading anti-scam app, for 12 months starting from successful activation. The app enables users to identify unknown callers, block spam and scam calls, and filter suspicious messages—providing an added layer of security for everyday mobile banking. Eligible clients will receive activation and redemption instructions through official BPI communication channels.

The initiative also addresses a common customer concern: uncertainty over unsolicited calls and messages. By verifying BPI’s official outbound calls and strengthening scam awareness, the partnership helps reduce fraud risk, eliminate hesitation, and reinforce trust in digital banking.

“At a time when scams are becoming more sophisticated and harder to detect, building awareness is just as important as providing protection,” said Alma Aldip, Head of Unsecured Lending and Cards – Product and Sales at BPI.

“This partnership allows us to go beyond traditional banking by equipping our clients with tools and knowledge that help them stay one step ahead of fraud. While Whoscall provides an added layer of protection, we still encourage customers to remain vigilant and exercise caution in all financial transactions,” she added.

Aldip also reminded customers that Whoscall is a third-party app offered as a complimentary tool, with its features and performance handled by the provider—not BPI.

Customers are always encouraged to immediately contact the 24-hour BPI Contact Center at (+632) 889-10000, or the domestic toll-free number 1-800-188-89-100 if they receive any suspicious calls, messages, or requests claiming to be from the bank.

Marking 175 years of serving Filipinos, BPI continues to evolve with its customers’ needs, reinforcing its commitment to delivering not only seamless, but also secure banking experiences through innovation and strategic partnerships.

Meanwhile, highlighting the importance of collaboration in tackling evolving scam threats, Gogolook emphasized the role of technology and global expertise in protecting Filipino consumers.

“Scam tactics are becoming more localized and sophisticated, which is why collaboration is key in staying ahead of fraud,” said Manwoo Joo, Global Chief Operations Officer at Gogolook. “Through our partnership with BPI, we are able to bring our global expertise in digital risk detection to more Filipinos and empower them with tools like Whoscall to better identify and avoid suspicious communications.”
