What Readers Should Know

Zyxel Networks deployed more than 100 cloud-managed access points across five staff accommodation blocks at JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa. Around 95 indoor access points were installed inside staff rooms, while outdoor units support gardens and shared areas. Zyxel’s Nebula platform gives the resort centralized network management and AI-assisted WiFi monitoring.

Key Takeaways

  • The deployment covers more than 100 access points across five staff accommodation blocks.
  • Around 95 NWA90AX PRO access points were installed directly inside staff rooms.
  • NWA55AXE outdoor access points extend coverage to gardens and common areas.
  • GS1920-24HPv2 switches provide the network backbone and support flexible installation through Power over Ethernet.
  • Zyxel’s Nebula platform centralizes management and uses AI-powered Wireless Health to detect and diagnose WiFi issues.

More than 100 cloud-managed access points now support resort employees across five accommodation blocks, with centralized monitoring and AI-assisted diagnostics.

Zyxel Networks has deployed its Nebula cloud networking solution at JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa to improve WiFi connectivity for the employees who support the luxury island resort’s daily operations.

Announced on August 11, 2026, the deployment covers more than 100 access points across staff accommodation spread over five residential blocks.

The project addresses a challenge that can affect hospitality operations behind the scenes: providing stable connectivity to employees living and working across several buildings.

Overcoming connectivity challenges

The resort previously relied on corridor-mounted access points. However, metal-panel walls made it difficult for WiFi signals to reach individual staff rooms consistently.

Working with Plexus Distribution and Focus Computers, Zyxel redesigned the network around the areas where connectivity was needed most.

Around 95 Zyxel NWA90AX PRO indoor access points were installed directly inside staff rooms to provide more consistent room-level coverage.

NWA55AXE outdoor access points were also installed to extend WiFi coverage across gardens and other shared areas.

“To ensure a strong and stable internet experience for our associates, we decided to install individual APs inside each room,” said Dilanka Adikari, senior IT specialist at JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa.

Adikari said the resort needed a high-quality solution at an accessible cost, leading it to select Zyxel Networks for the upgrade.

Cloud-based network management

Zyxel GS1920-24HPv2 smart managed switches were installed across the accommodation blocks to provide a stable network backbone.

Their Power over Ethernet capabilities allow the access points to receive power and data through the same connection. This reduces cabling requirements and gives the resort more flexibility in positioning its equipment.

The entire network is managed through Zyxel Networks’ Nebula cloud platform, which gives the resort’s IT team a centralized view of its access points, switches, and configurations.

Nebula’s AI-powered Wireless Health feature can automatically detect and diagnose WiFi issues while helping optimize performance before connectivity problems affect resort operations.

“The Zyxel Nebula cloud networking solution has made managing all APs, switches, and their configurations extremely easy,” Adikari said. “It has simplified our operations and improved the overall network reliability.”

Supporting the people behind hospitality operations

While hotel technology often focuses on guest-facing services, reliable staff connectivity also plays an important role in keeping daily operations moving.

“Reliable connectivity for hospitality workforces is often overlooked, yet it is every bit as demanding as guest-facing networks,” said Gary Chen, emerging markets head at Zyxel Networks.

Chen said the project shows how the right network design and local technical expertise can overcome structural challenges, including thick walls and signal interference.

According to Zyxel Networks, more than 7,000 hotels and resorts worldwide use its hospitality solutions. The company also serves over one million businesses across 150 markets.
