Cebuana Lhuillier, Ndrrmc Launch Nationwide Disaster Preparedness Drive

The initiative brings readiness seminars, Emergency Go-Bags and affordable financial protection to families in Marikina, Cebu City and Cagayan de Oro.

Cebuana Lhuillier has partnered with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), through the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), to bring disaster-preparedness education and affordable financial protection closer to Filipino families.

Launched during the height of the rainy season, the nationwide Disaster Preparedness Day initiative focuses on helping flood-prone communities prepare before emergencies strike.

The caravan will visit Marikina City, Cebu City and Cagayan de Oro in coordination with local government units and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs).

Preparedness at the community level

At each stop, experts will lead seminars designed to give residents practical knowledge they can use before, during and after a disaster.

The initiative will also distribute Cebuana Lhuillier Emergency Go-Bags to 100 families at every stop. Each bag contains bottled water, canned food, flashlights, whistles, first aid kits and other essential survival items.

By pairing education with basic emergency supplies, the program aims to make preparedness more practical for households facing weather-related risks.

The program also highlights the role of accessible microinsurance in helping families manage the financial impact of emergencies.

Disaster preparedness often begins with information and essential supplies, but recovery can also require financial support. By bringing these elements together, the initiative seeks to help families prepare more confidently and rebuild more quickly when disasters occur.
