Partnership Creates More Employment Opportunities for Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities

The Jollibee Group has expanded its inclusive employment program to Taguig City through a partnership with the local government, creating more opportunities for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) to participate in the workforce and contribute to their communities.

The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement between the Jollibee Group and the Taguig City Government, covering 16 company-owned stores across Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, and Burger King locations in the city. Under the program, each participating store is expected to engage two senior citizens and one PWD as part of its workforce.

The initiative builds on the company’s inclusive employment program launched in 2019, which has already provided meaningful work opportunities to more than 1,000 senior citizens and PWDs nationwide.

Building Inclusive Opportunities

The partnership aims to support qualified senior citizens and PWDs who wish to remain active and productive members of society by providing them with dignified employment opportunities. Through collaboration with various city offices, the Taguig local government will assist in applicant screening, training, medical assessments, and ongoing program support.

The Public Employment Services Office will facilitate applicant processing and training, while the City Health Office will conduct medical assessments and occupational permit requirements. The Office for Senior Citizens Affairs and the Persons with Disability Affairs Office will help promote the program and provide support services to participants.

For its part, the Jollibee Group will conduct interviews, orientation, training, and onboarding activities, including assistance in opening payroll accounts for qualified applicants.

Meaningful Roles in Stores

Qualified participants may be assigned to customer-facing positions such as order presenters, drink drawers, table managers, and guest relations staff. These roles allow senior citizens and PWDs to remain active while contributing valuable service and hospitality to customers.

Joseph Tanbuntiong, CEO of Jollibee Group Philippines and Head of Jollibee Brand Global, emphasized the importance of creating opportunities that allow people to continue contributing to society.

“This program is meaningful because it gives our senior citizens and persons with disabilities a chance to continue contributing in ways that are seen, valued, and respected,” Tanbuntiong said.

Meanwhile, Ruth Angeles, Chief HR Officer of Jollibee Group Philippines, highlighted how employment provides more than financial benefits.

“Work can give people more than income. It can give confidence, friendship, and a renewed sense of purpose,” Angeles said.
