Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has received the Kabataang Digital Award from the National Privacy Commission for its campaign that helps children understand and protect their data privacy rights online.

The award was presented during the 2026 Privacy Awareness Week Awards, an annual program that recognizes individuals and organizations advancing data privacy awareness and responsible personal data processing in the Philippines.

The National Privacy Commission conferred 10 awards during this year’s ceremony.

The Kabataang Digital Award honors programs that protect and empower children and young people through digital responsibility, privacy education, and safeguards for their personal information.

“This recognition reminds us that technology is most meaningful when it is used to protect, empower, and uplift young people and communities,” said Atty. Laurice Esteban-Tuason, Converge Corporate Compliance and Data Protection Officer and Corporate Sustainability Officer.

“We share this award with everyone who believed in Project PIGLET, supported our vision, and worked quietly behind the scenes to make it possible. Most especially, we dedicate this to the youth. May we continue building a digital space that is safe, responsible, and hopeful for the next generation,” she added.

Teaching Children About Data Privacy

Converge launched Project PIGLET, or Privacy Integration through Guided Learning of Emerging Technologies, in 2024.

The company’s Corporate Governance and Data Privacy Group developed the program to improve digital literacy and privacy awareness among school-age children.

The campaign teaches children as young as seven years old how to protect their digital identity.

Through an interactive space-themed story, participants learn about online risks, data privacy, and practical ways to keep their personal information safe.

The program also involves parents and guardians, helping families treat children’s data privacy as a shared responsibility.

Project PIGLET has reached schools and communities across Metro Manila, Mindoro, and Pampanga. Converge has also conducted sessions for its employees and their children.

Promoting Technology for Good

Converge said the program supports its mission to use technology for social good while balancing wider internet access with stronger data privacy protection.

“With the mission of Converge to leverage Tech For Good, we take it as a serious responsibility to balance access to connectivity with the data privacy of users who trust in our network,” Esteban-Tuason said.

“Through programs such as Project PIGLET, we aim to safeguard those most vulnerable on the internet, which are children,” she added.

During the sessions, Captain Conrad guides young participants through an internet-themed space adventure while facing online threats presented as digital monsters.

Parents join the activity as space officers, while children serve as space cadets learning how to make safer decisions online.

In 2025, Esteban-Tuason was also named Best Data Privacy Officer in the General Management and Services category by the Information Security Officers Group.
