Vietnam marked 80 years of independence with a strong statement of automotive progress, led by homegrown automaker VinFast.
The highlight was the Lac Hong 900 LX armored car, tested against 440 bullets and 11 blasts, achieving the European VPAM VR7 ballistic standard for head-of-state protection. Co-developed with Canadian firm INKAS, the vehicle combines international expertise with Vietnamese identity, featuring bamboo-inspired grilles, Lac bird logos, and luxury interiors.
At the parade, VinFast also presented open-top VF 9 electric vehicles, custom-built for government use. Four ceremonial units and 12 modified VF 9s for the Traffic Police demonstrated the brand’s flexible production. Engineers dedicated up to 2,400 hours to transform these vehicles, ensuring compliance with official protocols.
Automotive experts see this milestone as evidence of Vietnam’s capability to join the ranks of 18 nations with established domestic car brands. The showcase emphasized VinFast’s ability to adapt, innovate, and deliver vehicles from defense-grade armored cars to ceremonial EVs.
VinFast’s presence at the national celebration signals a new era for Vietnam’s automotive industry.
