The Favors (FINNEAS and Ashe) debut The Dream with live shows in New York and Austin
The Favors, the duo of FINNEAS and Ashe, have officially released their debut album The Dream on Darkroom Records. Alongside the release comes the focus track “David’s Brother,” an upbeat yet nostalgic song accompanied by a Claudia Sulewski–directed music video that captures the joy and spontaneity of unexpected encounters.
The video, set in a bar, reflects the warmth and camaraderie at the heart of the band, showing their ease and chemistry as they laugh, reminisce, and perform together. “David’s Brother” builds on the conversational style of earlier tracks “The Little Mess You Made” and “The Hudson,” showcasing their bright harmonies and seamless trade-off of verses.
The Dream revives the soulful groove of ’70s pop with modern precision, weaving influences from Carole King and Simon & Garfunkel through lush arrangements and storytelling. Written and recorded largely in FINNEAS’ Los Angeles living room with his solo bandmates Matthew Fildey and David Marinelli, the album was built on live vocals and organic instrumentation.
“It was just drums, an old CP80, electric piano, guitar, bass, and Ashe and me singing together,” FINNEAS shared. Ashe added, “People don’t record live vocals together anymore—it felt so romantic and fun.”
The album invites listeners to play it in full, evoking both heartache and comfort. FINNEAS describes it as the kind of record you keep on while cooking with friends. Ashe sums it up: “I want you to feel warm, fuzzy, and heartbroken all at once.”
To celebrate the release, The Favors launched a short run of shows beginning at Hollywood Forever in Los Angeles. Upcoming dates include New York City’s SummerStage in Central Park on October 1 and multiple stops in Austin, Texas.
