The global technology sector is experiencing an unprecedented surge, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cloud computing. This rapid growth has propelled tech companies to record-breaking revenues and soaring stock prices, making the sector an attractive investment opportunity. With Information Technology stocks now comprising over 30% of the S&P 500 Index as of February 28, 2025, investor confidence remains strong despite economic uncertainties.

Recognizing this potential, Sun Life Philippines has launched its Global Tech Funds, designed to help clients capitalize on the thriving tech industry while securing their financial future.

Bridging Insurance and Technology Investments

Available as a fund option within Sun Life’s USD-denominated investment-linked insurance plans—including Sun FlexiDollar, Sun FlexiDollar1, and Sun MaxiLink Dollar One—the Global Tech Funds are initially invested in a US Dollar-denominated target fund tracking the NASDAQ-100 Index. This index features the top 100 non-financial securities across industries such as software, telecommunications, retail, and biotechnology.

Sun Life offers two fund variants:

  • Global Tech Growth Fund – Focused on long-term capital appreciation, allowing investors to accumulate earnings over time.
  • Global Tech Payout Fund – Designed to generate consistent quarterly cash flows, targeting an annual payout of 7% of the fund value.

“With the Global Tech Funds, clients can upgrade their financial portfolio and build an additional income stream by harnessing the growth potential of the global technology sector,” said Carla Gonzalez-Chong, Sun Life Philippines Chief Client Experience and Marketing Officer. “By providing clients with access to this dynamic industry, we aim to empower them in achieving their financial goals.”

For those interested in diversifying their investments through the Global Tech Funds, Sun Life financial advisors are available for consultations. More information can be found at www.sunlife.co/GlobalTechGrowthFund and www.sunlife.co/GlobalTechPayoutFund.
