East Metro malls stay green and efficient with SM Supermalls Powered by the Sun

SM Supermalls strengthens its green shift as four East Metro malls now run on clean solar energy. The move pushes sustainability into daily life. You see the impact each time you visit these malls that now run with less carbon output and more energy efficiency.

SM City Marikina started its solar journey in 2023. The mall produces over 106,000 kWh each month through a 2.259 MWp system. You help save the planet when you support stores here because this power output offsets 74 tons of carbon dioxide each month. The energy is equal to planting more than 3,300 trees.

SM City Masinag joined the shift in 2025. The mall generates more than 124,000 kWh each month with its 1.696 MWp solar setup. That output helps power 592 homes. The clean energy use here prevents 86 tons of carbon emissions, equal to planting nearly 4,000 mature trees.

SM City San Mateo adds more strength to the region’s clean power shift. Its 810-panel solar system covers more than 2,000 square meters of rooftop space. It produces up to 0.45 MW of clean energy. The mall saves 32 tons of carbon emissions each month. That is the same as planting 1,466 mature trees.

SM Center Antipolo Downtown completes the East Metro solar group. The mall produces 71,270 kWh monthly from a 0.923 MWp system. This output can power 339 homes. It cuts 49 tons of CO₂, equal to planting more than 2,200 trees.

These malls now produce nearly 348,000 kWh of renewable energy each month. Your visits support greener operations and less strain on the environment. The effort sits within the SM Green Movement which encourages responsible waste management, water efficiency, and renewable energy use.
