SM Cares Steps Up to Assist Storm-Struck Communities in Marikina and San Mateo, Rizal after Tropical Storm Enteng

In the wake of Tropical Storm Enteng (internationally known as Typhoon Yagi), communities in Marikina and San Mateo, Rizal, have been left reeling from the devastation caused by flash floods and landslides. The storm, worsened by the enhanced southwest monsoon, displaced numerous residents and left many in urgent need of assistance.

SM Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Supermalls, swiftly mobilized its resources to aid those affected. Through Operation Tulong Express (OPTE), dedicated employee volunteers from SM City Marikina and SM City San Mateo distributed Kalinga packs to hundreds of impacted families in Barangay Nangka, Malanday, and Tumana in Marikina, as well as Barangay Ampid Uno in San Mateo, Rizal. These Kalinga packs, filled with essential food items, provided much-needed relief to the storm-stricken communities, helping families in their livelihood recoveries.

As part of SM Supermalls’ dedication to sustainable development, SM Cares continues to be a driving force in disaster relief and community outreach initiatives in times of crisis.
