The beloved blue icons are back—and this time, they’re bringing an all-star lineup to the big screen. Rihanna joins the voice cast of “Smurfs,” the newest animated installment from Paramount Animation, set to open exclusively in cinemas this July 16.
In a newly released featurette titled “It Takes a Smurf Village,” Rihanna shares her excitement over the ensemble: “There are so many talented people in this cast.” The behind-the-scenes look introduces fans to the voices behind the characters, revealing how a mix of comedy, heart, and big talent brought the Smurf village to life.

Directed by Chris Miller (Shrek the Third, Puss in Boots), the film follows Smurfette—voiced by Rihanna—as she bravely leads her fellow Smurfs on a daring rescue mission into the real world after Papa Smurf (John Goodman) is kidnapped by the villainous wizards Gargamel and Razamel.
Joining Rihanna are comedy and acting powerhouses including James Corden, Nick Offerman, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, and music sensation Marshmello, with legendary actors Kurt Russell and John Goodman rounding out the cast.
