Strengthening Responsible Food Systems at the Philippine Sustainability Movement’S 10Th Anniversary

Hospitality leaders unite under the Philippine Sustainability Movement 10th Anniversary to advance organic, certified responsibility, and traceability
The Philippine Sustainability Movement marked a decade of collective progress in the country’s Hotel, Restaurant, and Catering (HORECA) sector. The 10th Anniversary celebration, held at Sheraton Manila Hotel, gathered leaders and advocates who share one goal—strengthen responsible and traceable food systems in the Philippines.

Initiated by Pristine Solutions, the event focused on advancing organic practices, certified responsibility, and traceability across the food value chain. It celebrated how the movement has grown into a collaborative platform linking businesses, NGOs, and government agencies committed to environmental stewardship and ethical sourcing.
Founder Christian Schmidradner emphasized that the next decade will focus on helping more organizations adopt responsible practices that create measurable impact for communities and the planet.
The event featured discussions and experience rooms on organic transformation, plastics reduction, animal welfare, and ESG integration in hospitality and retail.
One of the key moments was the launch of PYC Foods and One World Deli’s ESG and Sustainability Framework. The framework ensures environmental and social accountability are part of everyday food operations.
“Trust and traceability are now at the heart of how we build food businesses,” said Roscila Anne Baylon, Head of Nutrition and Wellness at PYC Foods. She shared that consumers deserve to know where their food comes from and how it is produced.
Representing the organic sector, Alexandra S. Castillo of Naturland e.V. highlighted how organic farming supports not just environmental protection but also animal welfare and community well-being. She said that through Naturland’s programs, farmers gain practical knowledge while businesses meet organic standards and consumers make informed, responsible choices.
This celebration coincides with the “European Organic: Nurturing Every Juan” campaign by Naturland and the European Union, which promotes organic awareness and accessibility for Filipino consumers.
Among the event’s participants were Greenpeace, Control Union Philippines, PAWS, World Animal Protection, WWF Philippines, and the UN Global Compact Network Philippines.
For ten years, the Philippine Sustainability Movement has united hotels, restaurants, NGOs, and government agencies toward one purpose: strengthen sustainability in local food systems. The next decade aims to scale this impact further, focusing on accountability, transparency, and collaboration that can transform how Filipinos produce and consume food.
