Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit 2025 fuels national EV growth under EVIDA
The Philippines is driving full speed toward a cleaner and smarter mobility future. With both public and private sectors working together, the local electric vehicle (EV) industry is gaining new momentum through massive investments and stronger policies.

The Electric Vehicle Development Act (EVIDA) has opened new doors for growth since its enactment in 2022. It continues to attract international attention. This October, the Board of Investments confirmed talks with a new Chinese delegation exploring EV and renewable energy manufacturing facilities in the country.
The Department of Energy (DOE) also shared that several investors plan to roll out 4,000 EV charging stations nationwide within two to three years. This is a major step toward building a reliable EV infrastructure network.
In June, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines pledged an additional ₱7 billion investment focused on EVs and renewable energy over five years. The Department of Trade and Industry also proposed the Electric Vehicle Incentive Strategy (EVIS), projected to generate ₱11.4 trillion in economic outputs and nearly 700,000 new jobs in assembly, battery production, and charging services.
The Asian Development Bank joined this movement through a $100 million partnership with Ayala Corporation’s ACMobility to expand EV distribution and charging infrastructure. Australia’s StB GIGA Factory also opened the country’s first EV battery plant in New Clark City in 2024, targeting 2 gigawatt-hours of production by 2030.
These developments align with the Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry (CREVI), which aims for 7,300 charging stations by 2028 and over 20,000 by 2040, powering 2.5 million EVs on Philippine roads.
EV Association of the Philippines (EVAP) President Edmund Araga said the sector is entering a crucial phase. “We must ensure reliable charging infrastructure and continue developing battery technologies,” he said. “These investments create jobs, drive the economy, and promote cleaner mobility.”
The 13th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS), happening from October 23 to 25 at SMX Convention Center Manila, will highlight these milestones. With the theme “Charge Ahead, Ignite the EVolution,” the summit showcases the newest EV technologies and partnerships led by BYD, Omoda & Jaecoo, UAAGI, GAC Dangdang, and the DOE.
