In celebration of Mitski’s new song “I’ll Change for You”, from her forthcoming album Nothing’s About to Happen to Me, selected thrift stores around the world are participating in the Second-Hand Shop event, running now through 20th February. Announced via @TheMitskiVerse, fans can visit participating stores to shop and create looks inspired by the album’s visual world, snap photos with in-store mirror decals and pick up limited-edition pins (while supplies last). They are also invited to share videos of their outfit finds tagging @TheMitskiVerse and #IllChangeForYou for a chance to be featured on Instagram.

“I’ll Change for You” is a nostalgic and mid-tempo track that spotlights Mitski’s gorgeous vocal range over lush instrumentation. The music video, directed by Lexie Alley and edited by Rena Johnson, draws audiences deeper into the chaotic Tansy House universe, rendered with tactile, unsettling beauty: printed frame by frame onto film with hand-drawn marks and subtle distortions, it feels like a roll of film discovered amid the house’s clutter, dilapidated and probably buried under a pile of books. Watch the video here.

Nothing’s About to Happen to Me will be released on 27th February via Dead Oceans, unfolding as a richly detailed narrative centered on a reclusive woman living in an unkempt house – a deviant to the outside world, but free within her own walls. Bringing that world to life, the Tansy House Listening Events on 21st February invite fans into the “home” for an early listen of the album alongside a scrapbooking session. Attendees at participating record stores will receive Tansy House letterhead to write, doodle and scrapbook on as they listen; finished pages will be added to a “Desk of Mitski” poster displayed in-store, and stores can submit photos of their decorated posters and favourite pages for a chance to be featured on Instagram via @TheMitskiVerse. The album is also available for pre-order and for pickup on release day via participating stores.
