Mars Wrigley, the global leader in chocolate, gum, and confections, proudly celebrates 60 years of manufacturing excellence in the Philippines—a legacy marked by innovation, sustainability, and community impact. From its early beginnings in Pasig in 1965 to its establishment in Antipolo in 1999, the company has grown into a vital regional hub, exporting chewing gum brands like Doublemint®, Juicy Fruit®, and Cool Air® to Southeast Asian markets.
The Antipolo facility now produces up to 30 metric tons of gum daily, with 86% exported, while providing stable employment to hundreds of residents. With the theme “Better Together,” the 60th anniversary celebration gathered associates, local government, media, and business partners for a factory tour that showcased Mars Wrigley’s workplace innovations and sustainability milestones.
One such milestone is the transition to 100% renewable thermal energy through the installation of a biomass boiler in 2024. This $1 million investment has already reduced carbon emissions by 679 tons annually and supports local farmers by sourcing rice husks and coconut shells as fuel.
“Mars Wrigley is more than a business; it’s a force for good,” said Factory Director Salazar Maquito. “Our commitment goes beyond profit—we’re here to create positive change for people and the planet.”
As part of its long-term vision, Mars Wrigley will invest $2 million over the next three years to enhance its manufacturing infrastructure and employee well-being. The company champions workplace inclusion, maintaining gender balance and ensuring facilities are mother- and faith-friendly.
The Antipolo site is also a community ally through initiatives like its training-to-employment program for underprivileged locals, and longstanding partnerships with Smile Train and YULA Women’s Initiative, Inc. Moreover, Mars Wrigley Foundation’s $100,000 grant to Save the Children’s CHILL project further demonstrates the brand’s commitment to Filipino youth.
General Manager for Mars Wrigley Asia, Kalpesh Parmar, emphasized, “We measure success not only by financial growth but by the positive societal and environmental impact we deliver. Our goal is to keep thriving with our communities for the next 100 years.”
As Mars Wrigley Philippines marks its 60th year, it does so with pride, purpose, and a promise to continue delivering happiness while building a more sustainable future for generations to come.
