Malayan Insurance, one of the leading non-life insurance companies in the Philippines, was recently awarded at the exclusive Tokio Marine Group Awards ceremony held in Tokyo, Japan, on October 14.

Rizza Kiamco, Malayan’s Corporate Planning head, received the esteemed award for spearheading the Special Edition Master of Disaster initiative in the Philippines, which aims to educate its players on disaster preparedness and the role insurance plays in risk management.

The original game developed by ASSIST (Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation) focuses on boosting the disaster preparedness of the players, this Special Edition incorporates insurance into the gameplay to further educational enrichment.

This recognition highlights Malayan Insurance’s commitment to future-proof the next generations through corporate social responsibility and disaster risk management.

The initiative has already seen a successful implementation, with the board game being actively rolled out to numerous schools across the National Capital Region (NCR). Looking ahead, Malayan Insurance has plans to expand the program’s reach to more schools in other regions of the Philippines, for a wider impact on national disaster resilience and promoting insurance education.

“We are incredibly proud of Rizza Kiamco and the entire team behind the Master of Disaster initiative. This award from the Tokio Marine Group is a testament to the innovative spirit and deep commitment of Malayan Insurance to protecting the future and well-being of the communities we serve. Education is the first step in effective risk management, and we are dedicated to making the Philippines a safer, more prepared nation,” said Paolo Y. Abaya , Malayan Insurance’s President and Chief Executive Officer

This recognition reaffirms Malayan Insurance’s position as a forward-thinking industry leader dedicated to serving the Filipino people through reliable insurance products and meaningful community engagement.
