IDLEPITCH Finds Joy in Slowing Down with Funky New Single “Sige Lang”

Naga-based band IDLEPITCH offers a musical reminder to pause and enjoy life with “Sige Lang,” its new single released independently via Underdog Music Asia.

Following the Manila Sound-inspired “Salamangka,” the band brings together old-school Gapo funk, ’70s Motown, and contemporary OPM in a track about finding moments of happiness amid everyday responsibilities.

Vocalist Jude Serrano wrote “Sige Lang” after hearing friends express their frustrations with work pressure and professional ambition. Those conversations shaped a song that encourages listeners to step back, appreciate simple pleasures, and make room for enjoyment.

“Payong kaibigan siya in the form of a song,” Serrano shares.

That friendly advice carries into the track’s musical direction. Its groove, playful instrumentation, and warm sound support a message that reflects the band members’ own experiences of balancing work, family, and music.

Bassist Jeff Dy says those responsibilities can sometimes leave little room to appreciate the present.

“Lahat naman tayo may kanya-kanyang responsibilities, trabaho, problema, at mga goals na gustong maabot. Pero minsan, sa sobrang busy natin, nakakalimutan na nating mag-enjoy,” he explains.

Creating that easygoing sound took careful collaboration. Guitarist and arranger Herbert Belbes spent weeks refining the arrangement, bringing its many musical ideas together while keeping the mix from becoming overcrowded.

Dy and drummer Ryan Oñate developed the song’s rhythmic foundation, exploring sounds beyond the band’s familiar rock influences. For Dy, that willingness to experiment is part of what makes creating music exciting.

“Ayaw kasi naming ikulong ang sarili namin sa isang genre lang,” he says. “Mahilig kaming mag-try ng iba’t ibang tunog, at para sa akin, iyon ang isa sa mga exciting sa paggawa ng music.”

The arrangement also features intricate horn passages and a clavinet solo. Keyboardist Jeremy Pronto contributed spontaneous melodic ideas, while the WonderCollab production team helped develop the track’s fuller sound.

Together, these elements give “Sige Lang” its playful character while showing how IDLEPITCH continues to expand its musical direction after “Salamangka.”

At its heart, the single is about making space for small celebrations while pursuing bigger goals. It invites listeners to loosen up, enjoy the moment, and keep moving forward—perhaps with a little dancing along the way.
