Google is rolling out its September Pixel update with a fresh look and new features. Pixel 6 and newer phones, along with the Pixel Tablet, now get the Material 3 Expressive design language. First introduced in May and launched with the Pixel 10 last month, this design adds a colorful, rounded interface and deeper personalization, including customizable call screens.
The update also brings powerful upgrades to the Pixel Buds Pro 2. Adaptive Audio now adjusts sound levels to match your surroundings. Sudden loud noises are dampened to protect your hearing, and background noise reduction improves Gemini interactions. You can even accept or reject calls by nodding or shaking your head.
Pixel Watch and other WearOS devices will now automatically display Google Maps when you start walking or biking navigation on your phone. This makes directions easier to follow without checking your phone constantly.
Other Android devices benefit too. Features include Bluetooth audio sharing, AI writing suggestions in Gboard, favorites in Emoji Kitchen, and a redesigned Quick Share menu. Google also introduced Androidify, a new AI-powered app that turns your selfie into a personalized Android bot.
