GCash is expanding access to financing for Philippine micro, small, and medium enterprises through embedded finance and AI-powered lending tools designed to remove traditional barriers to credit.
At Money20/20 Asia 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, Fuse Financing Inc. President and CEO Tony Isidro shared how GCash is helping small businesses access faster and more frictionless funding through its AI-driven proprietary underwriting system.
The approach allows eligible borrowers to access credit without heavy documentary requirements, long waiting periods, or collateral—barriers that often exclude informal and grassroots entrepreneurs from traditional financing.
Through GCash SME Financing solutions, small business owners can apply for capital directly within digital platforms they already use, making credit more accessible when they need it most.
The need remains significant. Many micro-enterprises in the Philippines operate informally and lack credit histories, financial statements, or collateral. As a result, many continue to rely on informal lenders with high interest rates.
Fuse Financing aims to address this gap by offering more transparent lending options through the GCash app.
“By integrating financial services directly within the app, we are dismantling traditional barriers to lending,” Isidro said.
Products such as GLoan Negosyo allow merchants to access up to ₱350,000 through the GCash app, while GLoan Negosyo under the GCash for Business portal provides access to up to ₱2 million in working capital.
These financing options are structured around actual sales cycles and inventory needs, helping entrepreneurs restock, expand, and manage daily operations.
The initiative is also backed by a ₱1.75-billion credit facility from the Asian Development Bank, directed toward women-led and rural MSMEs.
Through GCash SME Financing, more grassroots entrepreneurs can gain access to formal credit and build stronger, more resilient businesses.
The takeaway: GCash is showing how fintech can turn everyday digital activity into real financial opportunity for underserved Filipino entrepreneurs.
