The Department of Tourism (DOT) has signed Grab as its official Digital Tourism Partner, aiming to strengthen Philippine gastronomy and inter-city connectivity. The agreement highlights the use of Grab’s digital platforms to modernize food tourism and improve access between key destinations.
DOT officials, led by Assistant Secretary for Tourism Digitalization and Resource Generation Sharlene Zabala-Batin, signed the memorandum of agreement with Grab executives, including Vice President for Cities CJ Lacsican and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Booey Bonifacio.
The partnership focuses on two priorities:
- Elevating Philippine gastronomy as a key tourism driver.
- Strengthening travel access between gateway hubs and cities.
Grab will support DOT’s gastronomy program through initiatives such as Grab Dine Out, which offers exclusive dine-in discounts in Metro Manila and Boracay, and GrabFood 5-Star Eats, which promotes hidden food gems and MSMEs. GrabFood For One also makes food tourism more inclusive, offering solo meals at budget-friendly prices with free delivery.
On the mobility side, Grab enhances inter-city travel with services like Advance Booking, allowing travelers to schedule airport rides up to 90 days in advance, and GrabCar, which offers 4- or 6-seater vehicles for transparent and safe rides. Grab’s coverage now extends to eight major airports, including Bohol, Cebu, and Davao, ensuring travelers access reliable transport upon arrival.
DOT said the partnership aligns with its vision of a tech-enabled and inclusive tourism sector that supports local communities and small businesses.
