DICT SM tech upskilling program opens new digital career paths for Filipino youth
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and SM Supermalls have joined forces to equip senior high school students with real-world tech skills through the new Job Opportunities Building Skills (JOBS) Immersion Program.

The initiative was launched in Quezon City as part of DICT’s broader push for a digitally ready workforce. The program focuses on hands-on training in fast-growing industries such as IT, e-commerce, manufacturing, hospitality, and the creative sector.
DICT Secretary Henry Aguda said the partnership will help prepare young Filipinos for digital jobs. “We want our students to be job-ready and globally competitive in the digital economy,” Aguda said.
The JOBS Immersion Program complements DICT’s “Trabahong Digital” initiative, which targets the creation of 8 million digital jobs by 2028. Through this collaboration, students will gain early exposure to freelancing, online services, and tech-based career paths.
SM Supermalls will provide venues and logistical support for training and immersion activities, ensuring that students learn in environments connected to real industry operations. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between education and employment by aligning classroom learning with the needs of the job market.
DICT also launched its “Digital Corner” learning booths during the event. These interactive spaces teach digital literacy, basic coding, cybersecurity, and online entrepreneurship. The booths will travel nationwide, appearing in future JOBS fairs and DICT immersion events to reach more students across regions.
This partnership between DICT and SM shows a shared commitment to building a tech-skilled generation ready for the challenges of the digital age.
