Cyber Immunity recognized by 71% of experts in APAC as a promising strategy against cybercriminals

At GITEX Asia 2025, Kaspersky has revealed findings from its latest research, stating that 71% of cybersecurity professionals from Asia Pacific (APAC) regard Cyber Immunity as an effective strategy for minimizing the capabilities of cybercriminals to penetrate networks and compromise systems. These insights indicate a growing demand for developing secure by design systems instead of relying solely on additional cybersecurity solutions.

The research, commissioned by Kaspersky, aims to understand how businesses are preparing for an increasingly unpredictable cyber environment and which emerging themes are shaping the future of IT security. Within the study, 850 cybersecurity professionals from the (APAC) region, Middle East, Turkey & Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Russia were surveyed.

One focal point of Kaspersky’s study was how familiar respondents are with the term “Cyber Immunity” and how they assess its potential effectiveness in providing reliable protection against cyber threats. Cyber Immunity is initially defined by Kaspersky as a concept of IT and OT systems that are secure by design due to a specific development methodology and architectural requirements, and have inherent resilience against cyberattacks, minimizing the costs associated with external cybersecurity solutions. The research revealed that a remarkable 85% of global respondents are familiar with this term and understand its correct meaning. The Cyber Immunity familiarity in APAC is at the almost same percentage as the global at 84%.

Among those knowledgeable about the term, nearly three-quarters (73%), globally, regard Cyber Immunity as a highly effective strategy for minimizing the capabilities of cybercriminals trying to penetrate networks and compromise systems.

When asked about the specific cybersecurity advantages it offers, approximately one-third (28%) of experts in APAC said that it could significantly reduce the frequency of cyberattacks, while a slightly larger proportion (36%) feels it can minimise the negative impacts of such attacks. Notably, a similar proportion (35%) of respondents believe that Cyber Immunity could achieve both outcomes simultaneously. These insights highlight the growing need among companies for a potential shift from usage of cybersecurity solutions for traditional vulnerability-sensitive systems to more promising secure by design systems.

“It is encouraging to see that cybersecurity professionals here in Asia Pacific are well-versed with our patented “Cyber Immunity” concept and see the value it brings to their IT security frameworks. As the region continues its digital drive and integrate emerging technologies like AI, Cyber Immunity essentially becomes an imperative core of cybersecurity strategies that organizations should adopt,” comments Adrian Hia, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Kaspersky.

In response to this demand, Kaspersky has announced that its operating system, KasperskyOS, is expanding its scope from an embedded platform to a general-purpose foundation. Initially designed as a platform for building cyber-immune solutions for specific industries that require strict protection, KasperskyOS is now recognized in a broader context across all sectors utilizing modern IT systems. KasperskyOS not only addresses cybersecurity challenges but also enhances infrastructure resilience. By enabling customers to develop solutions directly on a secure platform, Kaspersky offers the next evolutionary step in cybersecurity, moving away from merely patching vulnerabilities after they arise and mitigating them only with external cybersecurity solutions.

“We shared these insights with global IT leaders at GITEX 2025. The findings confirm a shift we have long anticipated: organizations are moving beyond reactive tools and demanding systems that are secure by design. With our Cyber Immunity approach to creating secure by design systems, we offer the next step—not just detecting threats, but structurally preventing them. With the expansion of KasperskyOS from embedded use to a general-purpose secure platform, we are helping customers build resilient digital environments that are easier to manage, safer to operate, and ready for tomorrow’s challenges,” said Dmitry Lukiyan, Head of the KasperskyOS Business Unit.

Kaspersky joined GITEX Asia as the Cyber Immunity partner and last April, 24 will host a dedicated Kaspersky Cyber Immunity Conference at the exhibition venue. The event featured insights from industry experts discussing the IT and OT convergence, Cyber Immunity approach and other cybersecurity topics. Attendees will also receive an overview of cybersecurity threats and explore key trends and emerging risks for 2025.
