City of Dreams Manila’s MRP Foundation Funds Redevelopment of Caloocan’s People’s Park: Advancing the City’s Green Spaces Initiative

The P50 million redevelopment of Caloocan City’s People’s Park funded by Melco Resorts (Philippines) Foundation Corporation (MRP Foundation), was formally inaugurated by Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan and MRP Foundation Chairman and President Clarence Chung in a ceremonial turnover in February, coinciding with the 64th Cityhood month-long anniversary celebration of Caloocan.

MRP Foundation, the charitable arm of luxury integrated resort City of Dreams Manila, fully funded the comprehensive redevelopment of the park, which includes landscaping and installation of a children’s playground, physical fitness equipment, jogging lane, picnic area, pickleball court, seating areas, walkways, and security features. The modern park, which is open from 6 am to 10 pm, also features food kiosks, supporting economic opportunities for the city’s business owners.

“We believe that communal spaces help build strong and thriving communities where citizens can gather to connect, and where children can play. We are thankful for the opportunity to contribute P50 million to Caloocan City’s commitment to uplift its public spaces, because providing parks for the community exemplifies one of the highest traditions of public service”, Chung said during the ceremony. He also credited the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation and other project partners for the endeavor’s success. He added, “We are optimistic that the Caloocan City People’s Park will be a vibrant hub for community gatherings, recreation, and cultural and sports events.”

The undertaking aligns with Caloocan City’s “greener city goal and smart city initiative”, which aims to provide green spaces for play and respite of their citizens. The donation to the city government of Caloocan is one of MRP Foundation’s various undertakings focused on environment, education, culture, and health programs in conjunction with the mandate of PAGCOR.
