Cavetown NPC new single leads fans into a new chapter
Cavetown returns with a new single titled “NPC,” a track that shows a clear shift toward reflection and emotional clarity. The song arrives ahead of his album Running With Scissors, which comes out on January 16. Fans who follow his journey will see how the new track mirrors the pace of his touring life. You hear exhaustion. You hear the weight of movement. You hear a voice trying to stay grounded.

Robin Skinner revisits Mr. Nobody, his childhood imaginary friend, and shapes him into a symbol of how he now sees himself. Always in transit. Always performing. Always trying to find home. He wrote the track while traveling. You feel that in every line. You hear a mind that slows down for a moment to understand where the heart stands.
Cavetown speaks about feeling detached from his own life. He shares that he sometimes feels like he is watching “someone else play my character.” This approach feels honest. It helps listeners hold space for their own moments of burnout. Cavetown has built trust through this kind of honesty. His billions of streams and strong fan base reflect how much that trust matters.
Running With Scissors takes on themes of growing up, learning boundaries, and holding healthier relationships. Cavetown continues to offer comfort to fans who look for guidance in identity and mental health. His presence gives many young fans a version of safety that feels accessible and real.
He will also host the second annual This Is Home Project Benefit Show on December 14 in Brooklyn at Music Hall of Williamsburg. The event will feature Annie DiRusso, Dreamer Isioma, Sidney Gish, Sydney Rose, and Tall GFs. Proceeds will support New Alternatives and the Lambda Literary Foundation. These groups help LGBTQ+ youth find safety, support, and community.
By the end of the year, the project will have donated more than seven hundred thousand dollars to organizations that support queer youth. Cavetown shares that helping LGBTQ+ youth feel safe has guided his work since the beginning. His new single “NPC” extends that message through sound, story, and sincerity.
