Apple has confirmed that its new operating systems will roll out on September 15, 2024. The updates include iOS 26, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, and macOS 26 Tahoe.
The announcement was made quietly through Apple’s website after the iPhone 17 launch event. Millions of users worldwide are set to receive the update, as Apple maintains support for a wide range of older devices.
The highlight of this update cycle is the new Liquid Glass interface, which Apple calls its most significant design overhaul in more than ten years. It aims to visually transform devices and introduce new features across the board.
Supported devices include:
- iOS 26: iPhone 11, iPhone SE (2nd gen), and newer
- iPadOS 26: iPad mini (5th gen), iPad (8th gen), iPad Air (3rd gen), iPad Pro 11-inch (1st gen), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd gen), and newer
- watchOS 26: Apple Watch SE 2, Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch Ultra, and newer
- macOS 26 Tahoe: Mac Pro (2019), Mac Studio (2022), Mac mini (2020), iMac (2020), MacBook Pro 13 inch (2020), MacBook Pro 16-inch (2019), MacBook Air (Apple silicon), and newer
Users are advised to check device compatibility before updating. The rollout will begin on Monday, September 15, with downloads expected to go live throughout the day.
