Anderson .Paak and Cordae Release “a Good Day,” Announce Joint Album ‘Heavy Is the Crown’

The new single arrives with a Friday-inspired music video ahead of the duo’s collaborative album, due October 23.
Anderson .Paak and Cordae have released “A Good Day,” the first single from their forthcoming collaborative album, Heavy Is the Crown, arriving October 23, 2026, via APESHIT + EMPIRE / Hi Level + Mass Appeal.

The track brings .Paak’s charismatic rapping together with Cordae’s relaxed flow, pairing playful verses with live drum grooves and a soul-infused sound. For listeners who enjoyed their earlier collaborations, it offers a first look at how that partnership translates into a full-length project.
“A Good Day” draws on familiar musical touchstones, echoing the warmth of Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day” and the energy of Fatman Scoop’s signature ad-libs. Humour and easy exchanges between the two artists give the song its upbeat character.
The accompanying music video, starring Jennifer Freeman, carries that playfulness into a homage to the film Friday. .Paak and Cordae take on a brotherly rivalry over a love interest, balancing competition with the camaraderie that defines their work together.
Their partnership previously produced “RNP” in 2019 and “Two Tens.” Those releases paired .Paak’s raspy vocals, musicianship, and hooks with Cordae’s sharp lyricism and storytelling—a combination the new album will explore further.
Alongside the album announcement, the duo has unveiled several physical editions of Heavy Is the Crown. These include six retailer-exclusive vinyl variants, an animated zoetrope edition available directly to consumers, and cassette and CD formats.
The CD edition features a lenticular cover that changes the album artwork into an image of .Paak and Cordae in a playful fight, extending the humour of their collaboration into its packaging.
With “A Good Day,” the pair set an upbeat tone for their next chapter, giving longtime listeners a new collaboration to enjoy ahead of the October release.
