Sun Life, Pcci Bataan Help Entrepreneurs Build More Resilient Businesses

The “Coffee & Play” program brought Bataan business owners together for practical financial education, leadership insights and strategies for navigating uncertainty.

With this in mind, Sun Life Philippines partnered with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Bataan for “Coffee & Play: Power Up Your Business Game Plan,” an initiative designed to help micro, small and medium enterprises strengthen both their businesses and financial foundations.

Turning volatility into an opportunity to adapt

Built around the theme “Resilience in Volatility,” the program gathered Bataan-based entrepreneurs for an afternoon of learning, networking and hands-on financial education.

Participants explored practical ways to strengthen their enterprises while looking at how financial planning can help protect both business goals and personal priorities.

A key part of the program was “Power Up Your Business Game Plan,” a presentation by entrepreneur, author and leadership advocate Paulo Tibig.

Drawing from values-based leadership principles, Tibig encouraged business owners to develop a “champion leader” mindset and approach volatile conditions as opportunities to innovate, adapt and differentiate their businesses rather than simply viewing uncertainty as something to fear.

Making financial planning easier to understand

The learning continued through a fireside chat and networking activities before participants took part in Sun Life’s Play for Life board game.

The gamified activity introduced financial planning concepts in a collaborative setting, helping participants see how preparedness can support business continuity, long-term goals and greater confidence when facing unexpected events.

The approach matters particularly for entrepreneurs because personal and business finances are often closely connected.

A decision involving savings, protection or long-term planning can have consequences not only for the owner, but also for employees, families and the future of the enterprise.
