Icona Pop Release New Single “Butterfly Feelings” Ahead of New Album Ritual

The award-winning Swedish duo explores the rush of falling in love in their latest club-ready pop release.

Multi-platinum, award-winning duo Icona Pop have released their new single “Butterfly Feelings,” a euphoric pop track lifted from their forthcoming album Ritual, arriving August 14 via Ultra Records/Iconic Sound Recordings.

The new song captures the dizzy, emotional rush of falling in love hard and fast. Co-written by Icona Pop, “Butterfly Feelings” blends futuristic synths, bittersweet pop melodies, and a snappy club-ready beat with the duo’s signature high-energy sound.

Anchored by the line, “My heart is beating, do you feel the same?”, the track reflects the excitement, uncertainty, and vulnerability that come with new love.

“‘Butterfly Feelings’ is a little song about falling stupidly in love,” Icona Pop shared. “We were thinking of all the times when we had that feeling. You try to deny it in the beginning, but you can’t stop thinking about this person.”

The single follows the release of “Dance To This” and the album’s title track “Ritual,” featuring Daya. The latter introduced a more vulnerable and emotionally grounded side of the duo, built around themes of survival, movement, and self-reclamation.

Across Ritual, Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo explore friendship, reinvention, healing, heartbreak, motherhood, and joy. The album reflects a transformative chapter in their lives, reshaping the dancefloor into a space for release, renewal, and connection.

“Healing requires you to slow down and reflect, but you can’t work on yourself 24/7 forever,” Icona Pop said. “Eventually, you have to get back out into the world and see what happens. Icona Pop, composed of longtime friends Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo, rose to global prominence with their breakout hit “I Love It” featuring Charli XCX. The track became a generational pop anthem, achieving multi-platinum success and surpassing one billion global streams.
