The Philippines has been getting more popular in recent years because people are discovering its beautiful beaches and rich culture. Unlike other places in Southeast Asia, it hasn’t been overrun by tourists, so it still feels exotic and genuine.

However, since fewer tourists visit, the Philippines is still figuring out how to accommodate them. There’s not as much information available online, making it hard for some travelers to plan their trips. But there are specialized websites with recommended tours and activities, and I’ve gathered some of the best ones from these sources.

Scuba Diving:

The Philippines, renowned for its world-class diving, is situated in the rich marine environment of the coral triangle. With over 7,000 islands, it offers hundreds of dive sites for all skill levels. Beginners should visit Bohol, Palawan, or Puerto Galera, which are popular tourist destinations with excellent dives and plenty of dive shops and guides.

For experienced divers, remote locations near the South China, Sulu, and Philippine Seas provide some of the world’s best diving experiences. Tubbataha Reef, often listed among the top diving sites globally, is ideal for those who enjoy living on a boat and diving multiple times daily. More accessible options include the islands near Cebu City. In Cebu, you can experience the sardine run in Moalboal or dive with whale sharks at Oslob Island. The Philippines is a prime destination for both novice and seasoned divers.

Surfing:

Consider surfing as another exciting water activity in the Philippines, known for its famous surfing spots. The country has well-developed surfing resorts offering equipment and lessons for guests.

Staying at a surfing resort is a great idea for solo travelers. It’s a chance to meet tourists from around the world and make new friends while enjoying excellent surf.

Siargao Island is the best place for surfing. Known as the ‘surfing capital of the Philippines,’ it attracts surfers of all skill levels. The most popular surf spot is Cloud 9 Beach, so it’s best to stay nearby.

If you can’t visit Siargao, try surfing at Boracay. This island is famous for its beautiful white beach, but on the other side, you’ll find Bulabog Beach, an excellent spot with strong winds year-round.

Island Hopping:

The Philippines has over 7,000 islands, each with unique attractions, making island hopping a top activity for first-time visitors. It offers fun and adventure while showcasing the diverse beauty of each island.

These tours are available at popular tourist spots, but Puerto Galera and Palawan are highly recommended.

In Puerto Galera, you’ll find a mix of secluded beaches and excellent snorkeling sites, including the ‘coral garden’ and the underwater cave at San Antonio.

Palawan, often called the best island in the world, offers stunning snorkeling sites and hidden lagoons. Tours typically depart from El Nido or Puerto Princesa. In El Nido, be sure to visit Miniloc Island with its three secret lagoons.

Both destinations promise adventure and breathtaking landscapes, making them perfect for island hopping.

Casinos:

When visiting the Philippines, exploring the vibrant casino scene is a must. The country offers a range of top-notch casinos, both land-based and online. For those who prefer the convenience and excitement of gambling from anywhere, Top Online Casino PH platforms provide an excellent option.

These online casinos offer a wide array of games, from slots and poker to live dealer games, ensuring a thrilling experience. With user-friendly interfaces, secure payment options, and enticing bonuses, these top online casinos in the Philippines cater to both casual players and high rollers, making it a fun and engaging activity to try during your visit.

Hiking and Sightseeing:

The Philippines is a mix of old and new, nature and city life, making it great for hiking and exploring. You can walk through the historic streets of Manila or hike a tropical volcano. For those interested in culture and history, Manila, the capital, is a must-visit.

Intramuros, Manila’s old city, was a fort built by the Spaniards. It has museums and churches showcasing a unique mix of Spanish and Filipino culture. Key sites include Fort Santiago, a former prison now a museum, St. Augustin Church, and the Manila Cathedral.

Walking around Intramuros can be a fun half-day activity, especially with a guide. North of Intramuros, across the Pasig River, is Binondo, the world’s oldest Chinatown. Binondo is full of historic landmarks and offers great local street food.

Take Away:

The Philippines, with its stunning beaches and rich culture, is an increasingly popular destination that still feels genuine and exotic. It offers world-class scuba diving, especially in Bohol, Palawan, and Tubbataha Reef, and is a top spot for surfers, particularly on Siargao Island and Boracay. Island hopping is a must, with Puerto Galera and Palawan offering breathtaking landscapes and unique experiences. Manila’s Intramuros provides a glimpse into the country’s history, while Binondo offers historic landmarks and delicious street food. Whether diving, surfing, or exploring, the Philippines promises an unforgettable adventure.
