They said Valentine’s day is only for couples or those who have a special someone in their life. But Paper Soul, a Pampanga-based performing arts group, is recreating heart’s day as they pay tribute to nostalgia and complex emotions of love that didn’t last.

TIME CHECK 11:12 MAHAL MO PA RIN is the groups first offering for 2023 who is in their sixth year as a group; the night will feature original spoken word poetry and music performed by the collective’s resident poets, musicians and bands, and their newest members.

The show will happen this February 11, 2023, Saturday at 6PM and will be staged at the LaVerne Grillery Bistro, along Abacan Loop in Angeles City, a fittingly right venue as the restaurant played host to multiple arts and culture related events, and offers an ambiance perfect for a safe space and performative shows.

Original poems and songs will highlight stories about unrequited love, unkept promises, unsaid goodbyes, complicated relationships, suspended closures and more narratives that shed light on every one’s collective experience of romance and love.

Performing poetry are Arlin Salonga, Raemie Tulabut, Joshua Isais, Miguel Manzano, Lindsay Abogado, Gerone Baladhay, Jesus “Perdiyo” Ofalsa with new members: Gerald Chu, Rhenzell Valdez, Ashly Daryll Dana, Nathaniel Pamintuan and Nińo Joseph Aloba.

Musical performances by bands Healy After Dark and LUMI, singer Grasya Samirol, along with new members: Ben Son and SUNDAYNOON band.

When asked what audiences will feel on the show, group’s co-founder Aeron Masiglat Shared- “Pagtaas ng balahibo, kabog sa dibdib, ngiti sa mga labi basta they will feel all kinds of love, it’s for them to find out.”

“Most people say parang ang ‘bitter’, but it’s about freeing yourself from memories and experiences that you should no longer linger in or carry. Hopefully, the poems and songs would help out in accepting the realities brought about by pains and sadness from heartbreaks” said Francis Palo, Paper Soul founder. “Ultimately sana, the performances help them welcome a new day especially Valentine’s day with a heart that’s ready to start all over again for the better,” he adds.

Paper Soul fans and interested persons who want to watch TIME CHECK 11:12 MAHAL MO PA RIN may purchase their tickets at Php 250 inclusive of a free drink. The show is supported by MDC Productions, LaVerne Grillery Bistro, Foundation for Lingap Kapampangan, Inc. (FLKI), Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO), Mabalacat City government through Mayor Cris Garbo and Vice Mayor Gerald Pineda Aquino.
