Syria on war, OFWs still can’t come home

The war in Syria is still on and many of the Filipino OFWs are stuck in fear between fires and missiles. Though another 23 Pinoys came home last September 30, adding to the 5,500 Pinoy OFWs who are already in the Philippines, there are many OFWs still in Syria who can’t go home.

Many OFWs were living in fear thinking one day there might be a bomb that will land their house. Most of the time, there are no electricity and water running. Despite all of these, they still cannot go back to the Philippines because their employers want them to finish their contract.

Some of the OFWs who were able to came home were said to be either undocumented or overstaying according to OWWA.
