Spotify listeners streamed the movie soundtrack more than 170M times

“La La Land” dominated this year’s award season and has also won over the hearts of Spotify listeners, who streamed the movie soundtrack more than 170M times. Ahead of this weekend’s Academy Awards, Spotify reveals listening data around the film’s soundtrack, which includes Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling and John Legend.

We know traffic is a major headache in the “City of Stars,” hence the film’s opening scene. Since the soundtrack’s release on December 9, Spotify found people have spent nearly half as long listening to the “La La Land” soundtrack as Los Angeles commuters spent in traffic over the same period.*

Spotify has also found, in no surprise, that “City of Stars” was the most streamed song globally, with almost 21 million streams.
