Another year is about to end but that also means another year is coming in. But for those who love Ginebra and has deep appreciation of beauty, it means another Pinay goddess is going to take the spotlight on the beloved Ginebra calendar.

Ginebra San Miguel clearly has a taste when choosing its muse. For the year 2020, the world-class gin maker named Sanya Lopez as its new calendar girl during a media launch on Thursday at the Novotel in Quezon City.

Sanya takes over the role from Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach who was chosen as the Island Girl 2019. Other actresses who got featured on the Ginebra calendar were  Kim Domingo (2017), Arci Muñoz (2016), Marian Rivera (2009 & 2014), Georgina Wilson (2013), and so on.

Sanya is an actress and host based on Kapuso GMA network. She’s a fresh star that rose to stardom only in 2016 when she was chosen as the new Hara Danaya of the 2016 television remake of GMA Network’s Encantadia. Now considered as one of the best actresses in the talent pool of GMA, Sanya proudly took the role of being Ginebra’s new Island Girl.

The 23-year-old actress said about the honor:

“It is an honor and a privilege to be chosen as Ginebra San Miguel’s 2020 Calendar Girl. I feel excited and nervous at the same time. To be part of Ginebra San Miguel’s history, to be entrusted with this role as brand ambassador and to be the newest addition to the Ginebra San Miguel family is definitely a huge blessing,”

Sanya has worked with famous photographer BJ Pascual for her shoot for the calendar. The 23-year-old actress revealed that she prepared well for the photoshoot by going in a no carb diet. She shared:

“I only ate fish and chicken. I also did a lot of cardio workout, mostly running, Muay Thai and boxing.”

Ginebra San Miguel Inc.’s Marketing Manager, Ronald Molina said they chose Sanya as the brand’s newest calendar girl after seeing her courage, resiliency, optimism, and “never say die” spirit which are all representations of GSM’s identity as a booze maker. He said:

“For 2020 we chose Sanya Lopez as our brand ambassador because she embodies what Ginebra San Miguel represents — courage, resiliency, optimism, and never-say-die spirit. Sanya is truly ‘ganado sa buhay’ as she worked her way up to become one of the most recognizable faces in the entertainment industry today.”

In turn, Sany shared her thoughts about her role as the new Ginebra Island Girl, saying:

“I consider the challenges and struggles that I went through in life as motivation to never give up in pursuing my dreams. It is my family that inspires me to be ‘ganado sa buhay.’

For me, when you say ‘Island Girl’, you see a woman who is strong and independent.”

Sanya is now set to join the “Ginuman Fest” tour as a part of her responsibility as the Island Girl. Ginuman Fest is the company’s annual series of music festivals that brings together gin lovers around the country as One Ginebra Nation.

Ginebra also unveiled during the event four new calendar layouts that feature the brand’s lines of products including Ginebra San Miguel, GSM Blue, Primera light brandy, and Vino Kulafu, the leading Chinese wine brand.

Ginebra has been around since 1834, making it older than the Republic of the Philippines which was founded only in 1898. For over 185 years of the brand’s history, Ginebra has already become a part of the Philippine legacy. It witnessed countless of wars and revolutions but it’s still standing strong and its recipe hasn’t changed a bit, showing true preservation of a long history.

Other GSMI products include GSM Blue Light Gin, GSM Blue Mojito, GSM Blue Gin Pomelo, GSM Blue Margarita, GSM Premium Gin, Don Enrique Mixkila, Antonov Vodka, and Anejo Gold Rum.
