realme C12 review: New slick phone with long lasting battery life

With the aim of providing the public with very efficient yet aesthetically pleasing and affordable smart mobile phones, Realme has launched Realme C12 which complements the recent release of Realme C11 and C15.

Design and Display

The slick look of the realme C12 comes from its Geometric Gradient Design that is featured in its case just like in the realme C15. The diagonal lines that separates the depth of colors add to its stylish look while the matt texture gives it a somewhat slip-proof feature. Realme C12 is available in Marine Blue and Coral Red.

This smartphone has a 6.5-inch HD+ screen with a mini-drop design. It has a higher scree-to-body ratio up to 88.7% as it has the latest front camera module which brings a 30% smaller view from the usual waterdrop design. Given its wide screen feature, display quality is great. You can enjoy smooth viewing in Youtube and Tiktok, reading/browsing articles online or surfing in your favorite social media platforms such as Facebook and Instragram. You can also see content clearly with its screen brightness at a standard level even in bright sunlight outdoors.

Camera

realme C12 features three cameras which can be efficient for photography. Its main camera is a 13MP primary lens which has an f/2.2 aperture lens. In addition, it has a 2MP macro camera and another 2MP monochrome camera.  The front camera is a 5-megapixel sensor that meant for selfies and video calls.

Here are some of the test shots i made using realme C12

Performance

The realme C12 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G35 chipset, with a 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. These specifications, as shown in an HD+ resolution screen provide quality experience to various smartphone activities such as surfing social media platforms, watching videos and playing games. Not only that, as we are entering the new normal in education, it is very much suitable for online learning as it can easily and efficiently access educational applications such as Zoom and Google Classroom.

I also used the phone on playing with my current favorite android game called Pocket Pioneers and it went well. I tried also playing Shadowngun War Games and I don't feel any log while playing it.

System

realme C12 is already utilizing Android 10 which maximizes the Android experience. As such, you can ensure smooth and efficient use of installed and downloaded applications. And with the intent of being relevant to the younger generation, it is designed with visually pleasing aesthetics to the youth which is reflected in system colors, icons, wallpapers, and animations.
The best part here is that every detail and icon can be personalized and customized. Aside from icon shape and size, the user can also alter the icon’s internal graphic size. Aside from that, 11 modern wallpapers which are nature-inspired totally complements the color schemes which makes animations cooler and fun.

realme preloaded C12 with some additional Google apps like Google One, Podcasts, Pay, News, Files, Keep Notes, and Calendar. Also to fully maximize speed in usage, you must clear applications every now and then to refresh the memory and cache.

Long Lasting Battery Life

One of the key features of Realme C12 is its battery capacity of 6000 mAh. As I expected, the battery can stand for two days with heavy usage such as continuous Internet surfing, picture-taking, watching Youtube and other movies, and surfing/chatting thru social media applications.

I also tried to leave the phone to be on standby for almost 14 days and still it has 18 percent battery life. Charging the phone seems it takes forever to fully charge it from below 5 percent. Maybe a fast system will do.

Verdict

Realme has provided smartphones that are for professional usage while remaining its affordability with its C-Series Trio. These smartphones ensure efficient performance with longer battery capacity. Conveniently priced at Php 5,990, the C12’s features and specifications are almost at par with C15 which is slightly priced higher. The gap between three and four cameras is hardly noticeable for most users. Though, it is notable that the 32GB can be the deciding factor, yet, this can be an expandable storage by using a microSD card.

So if you are looking or needing a smartphone which is cost-effective and cost-efficient, yet has great performance and notable features such as long battery life, choose realme C12.
